Margareta Wallenius-Kleberg awarded H.M. The King’s Medal
Margareta Wallenius-Kleberg receives the H.M The King’s Medal, 12th in size for outstanding efforts in Swedish industry at a ceremony at the Royal Palace. She also receives the Royal Norwegion Order of Merit (The Commander’s Cross) for particularly meritous services in promoting Norwegian interests.
Seven vessels reflagged
Seven vessels are reflagged to Singapore, a consequence of the continuous financial turmoil. DON JUAN, DON QUIJOTE and ELEKTRA were the first three.
Green recycling
Four Mark 1 vessels are sent for recycling as well as two Breeze vessels and MORNING GLORY and TOSCA. A certified recycling shipyard in China is elected to conduct the recycling with inspectors on site to ensure that the proceeds in accordance with all the environmental and safety requirements.
New President is appointed
Anders Boman is appointed President for Wallenius Lines and Wallenius Marine, consequently succeeds both Lone Fons Schroder and Per Croner.
Long-term charter to WWL
PORGY and BESS are delivered on long-term charter. The vessel is part of WWL’s global fleet.
Roadmap to an emission-free vessel
Project ZERO, Zero Emission RoRo is initiated to realise our vision of an emission-free vessel. Extensive technical data is being produced, which will form the basisof coming vessel generations.

Due to the escalating piracy situation, we decide to use armed guards onboard vessels trading the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.
Rare visit in Stockholm
TRAVIATA makes a very rare visit in Stockholm for three days. Co-oworkers, their families and a few business partners are invited and get the opportunity to go onboard.

Supervised by Maersk Recycling, RIGOLETTO and TRAVIATA are recycled on a cerfified yard in China.
Reflagging continues
DON CARLOS and MANON are vessel number four and five to reflag to Sinagpore.

New flag
The sixth and seventh vessels, TURANDOT and DON PASQUALE are reflagged to Singapore.
Anti-trust investigation
Competition authorities in Japan, Europe and the US initiates an investigation related to suspected antitrust infringements in the car carrier industry. The investigation includes Wallenius associated companies WWL, EUKOR Car Carriers and UECC. The companies are cooperating with the authorities.

2013
HERO vessels on order
Wallenius Lines orders four new vessels of Panamax size, 36 m width. The new type is called HERO (Highly Efficient RoRo). The vessels are built in China, at Tianjin Xingang Shipyard for delivery 2016 and 2017.
New PCTC delivered
TOSCA is delivered from Mitsubishi Heavy Industies with a cargo capacity of 6 500 cars.
2014
LNG vessel on order
UECC, together with its owners, takes a bold decision and orders two RoRo vessels fuelled on LNG for delivery in 2016. Wallenius Marine is appointed project leader.
Rescue operation in the Mediterranean
ANIARA rescues 200 refugees in distress in the Medittereanen, which receives quite some attention during the year. The salvage operation initiates new procedures to safeguard all kinds of rescue operations with a large number of people involved.
Green recycling in China

MACN
Wallenius Marine becomes a member of the MACN, a maritime association working against corruption in the maritime industry.
2015
In memory
Christer Olsson passed away on December 29 after a long period of illness. Christer had just turned 70, and had been working as Marketing Director, President and vice Chairman during more than 30 years within Wallenius Lines.
Emergency kit
Wallenius Marine will provide an emergency kit that will be on board all ships, including hot water filters, water bottles, cutlery and plates for up to 200 people.

First LNG
The world’s first LNG-powered PCTC vessel, AUTO ECO, is delivered and named in a ceremony in Zeebrugge.
2017
Wallenius Lines and Wilhelmsen Holding form the joint company
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics ASA, merging their assets of ships and shares. The company gets listed on the Oslo stock market. Wallenius Lines is from then on a pure holding company, owning 38% in WWL ASA and 50% in short sea shipping company UECC.

Wallenius Marine continue its strategic development process with a partly new product portfolio.
The M/S SOYA III
The M/S SOYA III departs on a three month tour through Sweden along the Göta Canal, and up the westcoast towards Oslo. After a few days as conference venue in Lysaker, she turns homeward again. Several customer events are held along the journey.
2018
First HERO vessel m/v TITUS is delivered
The first HERO – High Efficiency RoRo – vessel out of four is delivered from Tianjin Xingang Shipyard in China. It is an 8000 RT-units Post Panamax PCTC, optimized for highest efficiency in service conditions. It has highly efficient and optimized hull. The machinery is optimized for lowest fuel oil consumption, and it has flexible and efficient cargo hold. m/v TITUS is added to the WWO fleet. In August, a naming ceremony was held in Gothenburg, Sweden, attended by some 100 co-workers and partners. Margareta Wallenius-Kleberg was godmother.
New President at Wallenius Marine
On April 1st, 2018, Johan Mattsson steps in as president of Wallenius Marine. For 13 years, Johan sailed on Wallenius vessels as Senior Officer before he transferred to various management position within the commercial and operational departments of Wallenius Lines, WWL and later also EUKOR Car Carrier. Johan has more than 30 years of experience in the maritime sector.
Digitalisation at Wallenius Marine
Several steps are taken during the year to further digitalize the operations, and especially the communications at Wallenius. A new website for Wallenius Marine is launched with a modern technical platform. LinkedIn courses are held internally to promote co-workers to become a digital Wallenius’ ambassador. And an Instagram account is initialized which wanders on relay between the vessels, sharing their day-to-day operations.
Wallenius Marine wins sustainability Award
Wallenius Marine was the winner of the The Swedish Confederation of Transport Enterprises Sustainability Award 2018 for their dedicated sustainability work. Wallenius Marine donated the prize money to WWF.
2019
m/v FIDELIO awarded for exemplary rescue operation
Domingo Swerini’s foundation, which rewards rescue operations at sea and supports injured sailors, issued a diploma to Captain Jan Nilsson with crew of m/v FIDELIO for “for an exemplary rescue operation by the Captain with crew at the rescue of 11 shipwrecked fishermen, who were on the wreckage in the Mediterranean sea off Tunisia.”
Official Inauguration of Singapore Office
In March, the official inauguration of the new Wallenius Marine Singapore office was held. A delegation from the Stockholm office as well as invited guests, such as the Swedish Ambassador in Singapore Mr. Niclas Kvarnström, were present to enjoy the Swedish Fika and the good atmosphere in the beautifully furnished office.
The UECC orders battery hybrid LNG car carriers
United European Car Carriers (UECC), jointly owned by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Wallenius Lines, has signed a contract to construct two new generation PCTC with China Ship Builidng Trading Co., Ltd and Jiangnan Shipyard Group Co. Ltd. The newbuilding contract also has options for two additional vessels, and the first vessel is planned for delivery in 2021. The vessels will be equipped with a Battery Hybrid LNG Solution which will place UECC beyond IMO’s target for a 40 percent reduction in carbon intensity by 2030.
Wallenius and SOL form a joint Shipping line
In April, Wallenius and SOL create a joint shipping line WALLENIUS SOL. The new company will transport forestry products and other goods in a network covering the Gulf of Bothnia, the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. CEO is Ragnar Johansson.
Naming ceremony and reflag for m/v TRAVIATA
The latest newbuilding m/v TRAVIATA is named at a ceremony in Bremerhaven in June. Godmother is Ine Eriksen Soreide, the Norwegian foreign minister. m/v TRAVIATA is added to the WWO fleet. The vessel is reflagged to the Swedish flag.
Wallenius acquires steamboat s/s SALTSJÖN
Wallenius Lines acquires a steamboat from 1925. s/s SALTSJÖN represents a unique shipbuilding technique from the 1920s. SALTSJÖN is the second culturally historical vessel in the Wallenius Lines fleet and a beautiful complement to SOYA III, which was Wallenius Lines first newbuilding from 1936. The operation and crewing of s/s SALTSJÖN is handled by Wallenius Marine.
m/s SOYA III makes a Göta Canal tour
During the summer, the historical vessel m/s SOYA III makes a tour on the Göta Canal in Sweden with several visitors and events happening onboard.
Wallenius Marine assigned project management for another UECC vessel
UECC has confirmed an order with China Ship Building Trading Co., Ltd and Jiangnan Shipyard Group Co. Ltd. for a third battery hybrid LNG vessel. The vessel will be delivered in 2022 and is slated for UECCs Atlantic short sea trade. As for the previous two vessels, Wallenius Marine is assigned for project management and design approval.
