Wallenius Lines acquires Don Juan

At the end of May, Wallenius Lines acquired the RoRo vessel Don Juan, previously owned by Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

The acquisition is in line with the company’s long-term ambition to ensure that ships are used throughout their practical lifespan – and to secure access to ships that can meet both commercial and socially important transport needs.

“Don Juan is a very powerful 29-year-old with a background in excellent maintenance. She still has a cargo capacity that meets today’s needs – both for heavy goods and vehicle transport in larger volumes. Sustainable thinking also involves utilizing current assets throughout their entire lifespan and not just ordering new ships. With a fuel mix containing HVO100, Don Juan can operate for many more years. It is also part of the history that Don Juan is one of the first ships Wallenius built in Korea, making her return extra fun, says Erik Nøklebye, CEO of Wallenius Lines.”

The acquisition is part of Wallenius Lines’ growing commitment to Total Defense, where the need for reliable and flexible transport solutions is becoming increasingly important in a changing world. Ship Management will continue to be provided, just as before, by Wallenius Marine. With Don Juan in the fleet, Wallenius Lines now owns a total of 7 ships.
